The tg06 network will be scaled for roughly 5000 clients. For your viewing pleasure, we've created this UPDATED schematic of our plans. (old version here) One major layer3 switch will get 8x1Gbit trunks down to each distribution switch. Each of the five distribution switches will have about 40 edge switches connected with 1Gbit/s speeds. This will give us a total of 5040 100Mbit/s edge ports. Vlans will span from the edge switch and the whole way into d03. In the schematic d05 is depicted as a router. This may or may not happen, we haven't decided yet. The internet connection is connected through telegw, which has 2x 2Gbit connections to the floor/party area. The main idea is that certain administrative functions; major servers (dhcp/dns), the info desk, logistic systems and so on, should function properly despite any problems on the floor. Access listsDue to huge amounts of spam earlier years, we will probably shut We hope to update this page with more information if we need to shut down further ports/services.
Equipment listd01,d02,d04 will be the Extreme Networks Summit 400-48T from last year.d03 will be a Cisco Catalyst 6509 with a 720-3BXL supervisor. d05 will probably be an Extreme Networks BlackDiamond 10808. telegw will be a Cisco Catalyst 6509 with a supervisor2/msfc2. nocgw will probably be a Cisco Catalyst 3750G. Edge/table switches will be the Zyxel ES-3024 that were used last year.
Ementor Norge has lent us the (so very cool) Cisco equipment.
Closing remarksWe've added some extra layer3-links in the later revisions, taking into account the suggestions for more redundancy posted in the forum. As always, comments are welcome at forum.gathering.org updated 2006-03-29.
